History of MNSA:
MNSA was formed in 2007 by a small group of individuals with a love for softball and the LGBT community.
Our wonderful members continue to volunteer their time to keep MNSA going strong and to honor its objective. We appreciate our members and our supportive fans and community.
**There is little infromation known about The Music City Gay softball league (Commissioner Harry Harrington) that was prior to when MNSA was formed, however we do know that it was a prominate league and that a team from Memphis called The Crusiers would drive down for two years to play in the league in 1994-1995. before starting thier own league. We even hosted a Gay Softball World Series here in Nashville back in 1994.
International Pride Softball:
MNSA is a proud member of the International Pride Softball(IPS).
Created in 1977, the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance now know as IPS Open Division is a 501(c)(3) international sports organization comprised of men and women dedicated to promoting amateur athletics for the LGBT community. NAGAAA now IPS was formed to encourage the participation of gay men and lesbians in organized softball competition.
The IPS Open Division teams consist of men/women mixed teams or exclusively male teams. We have seven divisions of play -- A, B, C, D, E, Legends C and Legends D. Legends divisions are made up of individuals that have reached 50 years of age. These division designations pertain to the competitive level of play, with "A" being the most skilled, and the "E" supporting the more recreational levels of play.
